초등학교 일본문학 권장 도서 지도방안 연구

Abstract

2006학년도 부산교육청에서는 인터넷을 통하여 다양한 독후 활동이 가능하고 학생들의 독서흥미를 촉진시킬 수 있는 독서교육지원시스템이란 프로그램을 새롭게 선보이면서 부산시내 초·중·고 각급 학교와 공공 도서관으로부터 추천 받은 초등학교 600여권, 중·고등학교 500여권의 방대한 권장 도서 목록을 발표하였다. 특히 초등학교에서는 교사 및 학생 모두가 이 시스템에 적극적으로 회원으로 가입하여 학기 중이나 방학 중 또는 수업 중에 시스템을 활용할 정도로 매우 중요한 독서교육매체가 되었다. 독서교육지원시스템의 권장 도서에는 초등학교에 22권, 중·고등학교에 23권의 일본문학 권장 도서가 등록되어 있는데 본 연구는 이 중『우동 한 그릇』,『반딧불이의 무덤』,『나는 선생님이 좋아요』,『내가 나인 것』,『내 마음의 선물』,『그네타기』의 4~6학년 일본문학 권장 도서를 분석 해 보고 초등학교 일본문학 권장 도서로서의 가치를 평가해 보았다. 또한 필자는 평소 초등학교 어린이들 사이에서 일본문학 애니메이션, 특히 일본작가 미야자키 하야오(宮崎 駿)의『이웃집 토토로』,『바람계곡의 나우시카』,『센과 치히로의 행방불명』,『원령 공주』등의 애니메이션 작품이 폭발적인 인기가 있다는 데에 관심을 가지고 있던 중, 이 작품들이 전달하는 주제는 단순한 작품 하나의 주제로 끝나는 것이 아니라 자연과 사람, 미래에 대하여 전하는 메시지가 설득력이 있었음을 알 수 있었고, 작품에 일관성 있게 흐르는 사상이 있다는 점에 주목하여 비록 이 작품들이 권장 도서 목록에는 포함되지 않았으나 수업에 활용할 가치가 있다고 생각하였다. 초등학교에서의 재량활동 교육과정은 개성 있고 창의적인 인간육성을 요구하는 시대적 상황에 부응하는 학교 나름의 특색 있는 교육활동을 할 수 있도록 하고 있는데, 실제 학교현장에서는 주어진 68시간 중 20여 시간 정도를 할애하여 창의적인 재량활동 교육과정을 수립하여 운영하고 있다. 필자는 부산광역시교육청의 독서교육지원시스템의 일본문학 권장 도서지도와 일본문학 애니메이션의 활용에 관한 지도, 초등학교 재량활동 교육과정 운영이라는 세 가지의 과제 수행을 위하여 6개 권장 도서와 1개 애니메이션에 대한 교수·학습 지도안을 제작하여 실제 수업에 임하였고, 독서교육지원시스템이라는 매체를 적극 활용하여 초등학교에서의 권장 도서지도 특히, 일본문학 권장 도서지도에 대한 독후 활동을 실시하였다. 효과적이고 지속적인 독서교육을 위해서는 재량활동 시간을 통한 권장 도서 지도가 필요하며 또한 600여권의 방대한 권장 도서를 두서없이 지도하는 것보다 담임교사가 기간을 정하여 기간 안에 권장 필독 도서 과제를 주는 것이 좋다는 생각을 하여 2006년 한 해는 22권 중 6권에 대한 지도 방안을 연구 실천하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 나날이 좋아지는 독서교육 환경에 맞추어 교사들이 손쉽게 활용할 수 있도록 독서교육지원시스템을 통한 체계적인 일본문학 권장 도서지도의 독서교육 재량활동 운영방안을 제시하여 다음과 같은 성과를 얻었다. 첫째, 재량활동 총 18시간을 통한 일본문학 지도 시간을 가짐으로서 초등학교에서도 재량활동 시간을 통한 일본문학 지도가 가능하여졌다. 둘째, 독서교육지원시스템의 일본문학 권장 도서를 읽고 학생들은 적극적인 독후 활동을 함으로서 독서 능력의 향상을 가져왔다. 셋째, 학생들은 평소에 읽지 않던 일본문학 도서를 5권 이상 읽게 되었고 앞으로도 일본문학에 대한 관심을 갖게 될 것이다. 넷째, 초등학생들이 가지고 있는 일본에 대한 막연한 피상적인 의식에 대한 전환점을 가져올 수 있는 계기를 마련하였다. 다섯째, 『이웃집 토토로』 등 일본 애니메이션을 단순히 보고 즐기는 것이 아닌 초등학교의 재량활동 수업시간에 권장 도서와 어깨를 나란히 하여 지도함으로서 수업시간에 적극 활용할 수 있게 되었다.

Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education (BMCOE) newly in 2006 released Reading Education Support System (RESS) which makes it possible that people read widely through internet and promotes students' interest in reading and a voluminous list, including more than 600 books for primary education and 500 books for secondary education, which are recommended by educational institutions and public libraries in Busan. Because it is enough for students and teachers to be applied in classes and vacation activities by joining this system, RESS becomes an important reading educational medium. There are 22 for primary education and 23 for secondary education of Japanese literature books, listed in recommended books of RESS. This research follows two steps; analyzing recommended books of Japanese literature for 4th~6th grade elementary school students and evaluating them. They are as follows.「A Bowl of Udong」,「The Grave of the Firefly」,「I Like My Teacher」,「Being Like Myself」,「The Present from My Heart」and「Swinging」.Also I was interested in the fact that Japanese animations, especially like「My neighbor Totoro」,「Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind」,「Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi」and「Mononoke Hime」,which works produced by Miyazaki Hayao, a famous Japanese director, are tremendously popular among elementary school students and paid attention to thatthe themes of these works do not only mean the motif of each work but also have messages about nature, human and the future world and have consistency. Moreover I thought they were good enough to be used in class though these animations were not in the recommended list. It is a curriculum of discretionary activity in elementary school that a teacher carries out a special education depending on each school for the purpose of promoting students' personality and creativity. Practically in the field of education they formulate and well apply a creative curriculum of discretionary activity by allotting about 20 hours of 68 given hours. I first programmed a teaching plan about 6 recommended books and 1 animation to carry out 3 projects, which are teaching books of Japanese literature in RESS of BMCOE, teaching Japanese animation and managing a curriculum of discretionary activity in elementary school and taught in real class with that. Second, I taught recommended books, especially about Japanese literature by using RESS. Besides, I am of the opinion that there is a need to guide recommended books through a discretionary activity and it is better that a teacher in charge appoints a term for homework about must-read recommended books than that a teacher chooses an incoherent way for guiding 600 recommended books. Accordingly I studied and practiced in 2006 the guidance plan about 6 books of 22 recommended books. Therefore I indicated a systematic management program of a curriculum of discretionary activity about guiding recommended books of Japanese literature through RESS for the purpose of the suitable use for a better environment of reading education. They are as follows; 1.It became possible that they teach in elementary school Japanese literature through a discretionary activity by assigning classes of 18 hours about Japanese literature. 2.Students have remarkably improved in their ability of reading, through reading activity after reading recommended books of Japanese literature in RESS. 3.Students have read more than 5 Japanese literary books that they do not read in ordinary days and they will be interested in Japanese literature. 4.Elementary school students have had opportunity to change their superficial view over Japan with these experiences. 5.Japanese animations, like「My neighbor Totoro」,can not only be enjoyable entertainments but also be useful teaching materials as well as recommended books in discretionary activities in elementary school.
