5~6세기 新羅 道使의 성립과 전개

Abstract

Sylla(新羅) has transformed itself the territorial state from 5th to 6th century. It was the period that Sylla was in control of the regions of Jinhan(辰韓) as subjugated area. Sylla attempted to incorporate the region as its domain entirely. This study concentrates on the formation and development of the Dosa(道使), who performed his duties to subjugate the area into Sylla. The Dosa of Sylla was influenced by the Dosa of Goguryeo(高句麗). Goguryeo exercised military and political power over Sylla in the early of the 5th century. According to the existence of Tamsu Dosa(耽須道使) on Naengsuri-Bi(冷水里碑) and the records of Samguksagi(『三國史記』) about Bakjesang(朴堤上) and Samjik(三直), Dosa in 5th century was dispatched to the subjugated area for the view of supervising provincial men of influence and grasping the international movement. The national ruling system based on SoungㆍChon(城ㆍ村) system was carried out in 505. In order to take this opportunity, Dosa was not dispatched to the subjugated area, but to the domain of Sylla. Based on the records related to the dispatch and roles of the Dosa on Bongpyeong-Bi(鳳坪碑) and about Sylla in Yangseo(『梁書』), we can ascertain that Dosa was dispatched to SoungㆍChon(城ㆍ村) more and more regularly. At the same time, we can confirm that there are several limitations of the roles of Dosa in provincial society. It was King Jinheung(眞興王; 540~576), who pushed ahead most vigorously Sylla's territorial expansion. At this point, according to Jeoksoe-Bi(赤城碑) and Changnyeong-Bi(昌寧碑), Dosa carried out his duties administratively to support Dangju's rule in the newly occupied area. This roles of Dosa contributed to build up the local ruling system of Sylla in 6th century.
