Settlement Characteristics of Marine Deposit Silty Clay in the Region of Nakdong River Estuary
Abstract
In the development work of Pusan New Port rear site, it will be greatly meaningful to analyze the calculation results having been carried out so far in every aspects and assess it reflecting the relevant design. After comprehensively judging the contents of each chapters of the previous studies, we arrived at the following analysis results.
(1) Adaptability of forecasting method for settlement
It was judged to follow Moden formula as a settlement tendency at first as one of the experimental formulae that can forecast existing settlement but as time passes, it was proved that the settlement forecasting by hyperboilc curve model was more accurate. This forecasting is judged to be influenced by the settlement being generated from the lower undeveloped layer and secondary pressurized density settlement.
(2) Settlement of dredged soil layer and original ground
Dredged soil settlement not being influenced by the discharging soil entry is forecasted to be app. 2 meters and the settlement of the original ground to be 2.6~4.2 meters but the forecasted settlement of the lower undeveloped layer among the settlement of the original ground is judged to be 0.3~0.5 meters.
(3) Economic comparison for the kinds of drainage materials
When comparing economic efficiency for the similar distance of drainage materials, PBD and CD, PBD shows its distance of 1.5m and CD 1.6m, respectively, showing almost the same distance and the latter is more expensive than the former by app. 1.7 times but there is little difference in terms of degree of consolidation.
(4) Influence of PBD distance
When comparing a degree of consolidation effect under PBD drainage distances of 1.5m and 2.0m, a degree of consolidation of the former is higher by app. 8% and comparing 1.3m and 1.5m, the latter's degree of consolidation is rather high. In other words, there is does not appear clearly in consolidation effect depending on the drainage distance. But under the current conditions, drainage distance of 1.5m is judged to be the ideal distance.
