- Abstract
- This study is trying to point out the problems that the education of genre is not conducted properly and that genre is just considered a categorical concept thus suggest a proper way of educating old poems.
Genre is regarded as just knowledge and people think it is in the way of enjoying literary works. So they ignore it education. However, the education of literature without knowledge can be meaningless. The problem is not the knowledge itself but the education seeking only knowledge. It is more important to help students understand better by using knowledge of literature than just educate them by ignoring knowledge of literature.
The general definition of genre will be explained and the importance of genre education will be stated in the following pages by organizing the genre of Korean literature.
This study points out the problem with the education of genre in the high school literature class. Also, the education of genre and history of literature is so superficial that it ends up just memorizing knowledge. To solve these problems, this study suggests good ways which will be helpful to better understand the genre of old poems of a subordinate position genre.
Figuring out the genre of old poems can come only after understanding the creation, change and disappearance of the individual poem. So better understanding about genre can mean better understanding and appreciation of literary works.
