통일을 대비한 소설 교육 방안 연구

Abstract

2000년 남북 정상 회담 이후 사회 경제적으로는 남북 화해의 분위기가 무르익고 있지만 아직 교육 현장에서는 통일 교육의 기운은 약하기만 하다. 입시 교육이라는 테두리에서 그나마 도덕 교과와 윤리 교과를 중심으로 이루어지고 있으며, 문학 교과에서는 미약한 것이 사실이다. 그래서 이 연구는 문학 교육 중에서 특히 소설 교육을 통해 통일을 대비한 교육 방안을 연구해 보고자 한다. 소설은 인물들이 특정한 사회적 배경 안에서 갈등하며 살아가는 삶을 총체적으로 보여주는 문학 갈래이다. 이런 소설은 독자들의 체험과 인식의 폭을 확대시켜 인간과 사회에 대한 이해를 넓혀 준다. 통일을 대비한 소설 교육을 위해 먼저 남과 북의 문학 이론과 문학 교과서 등 문학 교육의 현실을 비교 분석했다. 그리고 통일을 대비한 소설 교육 과정을 만들고 이를 바탕으로 통일을 대비한 소설 교과서를 제안해 보고 여기에 포함될 소설 목록을 만들어 보았다. 이 소설 교과서에는 북한 작가의 소설을 비롯해 월북 작가인 홍명희의 『임꺽정』, 박태원의 『갑오농민전쟁』과 고전 소설 『홍길동전』, 『허생전』 등과 김하기의 『살아있는 무덤』, 최인훈의 『광장』, 윤흥길의 『장마』, 조정래의 『태백산맥』, 김원일의 『어둠의 혼』 등의 작품과 연변 조선족 작가 김학철의 『종횡만리』 등이 실려 있다. 이 작품들은 모두 소설의 내외적 상황들을 통해 충분히 남과 북의 분단 원인과 현실, 그리고 해결방안을 통해 우리 민족의 통일을 대비하여 학생들과 수업을 해 볼 수 있는 작품들이다. 그리고 윤흥길의 『장마』를 통해 구체적으로 실제 문학 수업 시간에 적용해 볼 수 있는 통일을 대비한 수업 지도 방안을 구안했다. 남북의 언어 차이의 확인과 극복, 마인드맵을 통한 분단 이전 남북이 함께 했던 시대적·사회적 배경 파악, 분단의 해결 방안에 대한 토론 수업, 작가에게 편지 쓰기, 남북청소년공동선언문 작성 등의 활동을 제시하였다. 하지만 이 연구는 북한의 문학 교육 현실에 대한 실제적인 연구와 통일을 대비한 소설 교과서에 수록할 소설 작품에 대한 좀 더 객관적이고 체계적인 조사, 그리고 학교 현장에서의 충분한 실제 수업이 있어야 할 것이다.

Since South-North Korean summit talk in 2000, there has been a friendly mood in the social and economic environment. But, the education for the unification is still hard to find in the school. The topic of the unification is sometimes dealt with in the ethics and the moral class. However, the topic is hardly dealt with in the literary class because of the limit of Korean educational system preparing for the entrance exam. Therefore, this study is focused on the teaching method preparing for the unification of Korea through the novel education. A novel is the branch of literature that shows the whole aspects of the lives of the characters conflicting in the specific social background. The novel enlarges the readers' experience and recognition and widens the understanding about the human being and the society. For the novel education preparing for the unification of Korea, the realities of literary education, such as the theories of literature and the literary textbooks in South and North Korea, were compared and analyzed. Then, the curriculum for the novel education preparing for the unification was designed. Finally, the novel textbook preparing for the unification based on this curriculum was proposed. This novel textbook lists some novels written by North Korean writers. It also lists ?Yim Ggeok Jeong?, by Myeong-hee Hong, ?Gap-o Farmers' War? by Tae-won Park, who both went to North Korea, ?Hong Gil-Dong?, ?Heo Saeng?, which are classical novels, ?A Living Tomb?, and ?Gwang Jang?, which are current novels. Considering the internal and external background of those novels, students can sufficiently discuss the reasons for the division of Korea, the realities of the division, and the solutions to the division. And the methods of teaching novels preparing for the unification were designed. These methods can be applied in the actual literary class with ?A rainy season? by Heug-gil Yoon. Also, some activities were presented; confirming and surmounting the differences of language between South and North Korea, mind-mapping to understand the historical and social background before the division, discussing the solutions to the division, writing letters to the writers, and drawing up a South-North adolescents joint declaration. However, this research still needs more study about the realities of the literary education in North Korea, more objective and systematic investigation about the novels which will be included in the novel textbook, and enough actual schoolworks in the school.
