Abstract
The ultimate purpose of Japanese language education is to help people have ability to communicate with others. In order to achieve the goal, we should lead them to participate learning voluntarily and actively by utilizing materials and methods to attract their interests.
On the other hand, we have in the past thought little of vocabulary in language education, but vocabulary has been revalued. Exactly, vocabulary has continually emerged and changed as a very important part of human's language activity.
Therefore, this study is focused on the teaching of Japanese vocabulary to improve learning motivation, especially ‘the basic vocabulary of 7th Educational Course'.
The study analyzes the vocabulary in ‘the basic vocabulary of 7th Educational Course’ and becomes the basis to research a teaching method.
With regard to the method of teaching vocabulary, the use of songs, games, and picture materials.
As for songs, children's songs especially are composed of repeated vocabulary and phrases, so that these were judged to be useful for the education and were researched for ways to use nouns and adjectives for vocabulary education. As for games I borrowed the ideas from Japan culture, English language education. And schemed out the method of using nouns, verbs, and adjectives among 'the basic vocabulary of 7th Educational'. And also using picture materials, students can learn greetings, auxiliary verbs, verbs and so on. Using these materials inspire not only learners, but also their concentration abilities and all things.
Unfortunately, many teaching plans for vocabulary education suggested in this study have not been applied to classes practically. Such a trial would contribute to the development of vocabulary education methods in the teaching of Japanese vocabulary to improve learning motivation.
