Abstract
The purpose of this study is to raised awareness about the importance of marine sports development activities in physical education. The goal of the study is to provide some basic data that could be used in the development of the programs.
The initial step was to evaluate the teachers' degrees of acknowledgement of the educational values that these programs offer. Next, it was necessary to find out if the teachers' support of "this idea" was linked to background variations. The next steps were to gather information about their knowledge concerning the operating systems for marine sport development activities as well as their ideas about the obstacles that might hinder these systems. Lastly, information was gathered about how well teachers feel prepared to teach these programs.
In this study, the convenience sampling method was used to collect 344 valid samples from teachers employed in the district of the Haeundae Education office in Busan. The survey tool used in the study was a questionnaire which of composition propriety and reliability were proved and, the data were analysed through frequency study, T-test, ANOVA analysis.
The following results were achieved using the above study method and procedure. First, teachers do in fact recognize the benefits of marine sport development activity programs in the field of education. Secondly, their degree of acknowledgement of these values is not affected by their background. It was also found that the teachers consider the proper operating system for carrying out such programs to be as follows; To adequately cover a single marine sport topic, the student should study it for 4 consecutive weeks to total 4 hours of classtime. The recommended tuition per one-hour class should be 2,500won. Class enrollment should not exceed 20 students per grade level; and class should be guided in a joint effort between the regular teacher and a trained expert in the particular topic. Fourth, the teachers think that the participation obstacles of the operating system are safety accidents, the expenses, the lack of programs and equipment in the region, and weather. Fifth, the teachers' preparation on the marine sports development activities was revealed as follows; the ratio of teachers who have a certificate of qualification related to the marine sports is as low as 5.2 percent. The ratio of teachers who are willing to obtain the qualification was also low at the rate of 29.1 percent. Also, the ratio of teachers who have intentions to teach the students was relatively low at the ratio of 35.5 percent compared with the rate of 62.8 percent of teachers that have no mind to lead the programs. Finally, teachers who would take part in the training programs for the marine sports development activities was relatively low at the rate of 44.5 percent compared with the rate of 53.8 percent of teachers that have no mind to take part in the training programs.
