진로교육에 대한 초등학생들의 인식 연구

Abstract

학생들이 얼마나 합리적으로 진로를 선택하느냐의 여부는 인생 자체의 성공과 실패를 가름하는 가장 중요한 일이 될 수도 있는 것이다. 개인이 자신에게 적합한 진로를 선택하기 위해서는 어릴 때부터 자신을 이해하고, 직업 세계를 이해하며 올바른 진로의사 결정능력을 함양하여야 한다. 이와 같은 이유로 초등학생들의 진로교육에 대한 생각을 알아보는 기회를 마련하고자 다음과 같이 연구 문제를 설정하였다. 첫째, 초등학교에서 이루어지는 진로교육에 대한 학생들의 생각은 어떠한가? 둘째, 초등학교 학생들의 직업세계에 대한 인식은 어떠한가? 셋째, 초등학교 학생들이 필요로 하는 진로교육은 무엇인가? 초등학생들에게 진로교육의 목적에 이루어지고 있는지 조사했으며, 초등학교에서의 진로교육에 대한 학생들의 인식을 조사하였다. 마지막으로 초등학생들이 요구하는 진로교육은 무엇인지 조사해 보았다. 위와 같은 연구 방법과 절차에 따라 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수업을 통한 진로교육은 잘 이루어지고 있으며, 학교에서의 직업선택에 대한 정보 제공도 잘 되고 있었으나 교육과정 내에서의 진로교육과 교육과정 외의 자원을 이용한 진로교육은 제대로 이루어지지 않고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 전체적으로 보면 희망하는 직업을 갖기 위해서 진로교육에 대한 정보를 학교에서 제공하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 둘째, 초등학교에서의 교육을 통한 학생들의 진로인식을 조사한 결과 직업기초능력에 대한 인식은 매우 높게 나타났고 학교공부가 장래희망과 관련이 있다고 응답했다. 좋은 직업은 소질과 적성을 살리는 직업이라고 응답했고, 직업이 가지는 가장 중요한 의미는 돈을 벌기 위해서라고 응답했다. 이는 직업의 일반적 목표와 직업의 경제관을 60%이상의 학생들에게 인식되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 초등학생들은 교육과정 내에서도 진로교육이 필요하다고 했으나, 교육과정 밖에서 더 많은 진로교육의 기회를 얻고자 했다. 그리고 교과 활동 중 현장체험을 통해 진로교육의 기회를 늘리고 싶어 했다. 또한 학부모 상담에 의한 진로를 결정하는 것과 자격을 갖추기 위해 유급제도를 도입하는 것에는 부정적인 견해를 가졌다. 본 연구의 결과 초등학생들도 자신의 진로에 대해서 많은 관심이 있음을 알 수 있었고, 학교에서도 아동들의 진로에 대해 많은 관심을 가지고 교육하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 초등학생들이 진정으로 원하는 진로교육은 교실 속 수업에만 국한 되어서는 안 되고 지역사회, 현장체험, 실습 등을 통한 활동중심으로 운영할 필요가 있다.

Career selection is the difference between success and failure of a career. To make a suitable choice students need to understand options in the education and vocational world and to cultivate the decision ability of proper career selection. Career education is an education program that assists students explore, plan, choose, prepare, and enter the career of their choice based on potential and characteristics of individuals. The focus of this study is to examine career education available to elementary school students. Specifically, this thesis investigated the purpose of career education applied to the elementary school student's education and how students perceive the career education in the elementary school. Also, it will examine career education required for elementary school students. The results were as follows: Career education learning was performed well and information provided in the schools was good. However, it appeared career education resources and tools were not utilized properly with the exception for the career education. Overall, it found schools provide students with information about career education for the desired vocations. Second, elementary school student perception of basic ability on the job appeared to be high and students are aware that school education is related to their future dreams. Students responded good jobs can cultivate their talent and aptitude, and the most important aspect of a job is to make money. It demonstrated a general understanding of job objectives and an economic view perceived by over 60% of students. Third, elementary school students stated career education is necessary within the curriculum; however they wanted more opportunities of career education and an increase of opportunities among field education. In addition, students had a negative view on career decisions through parent’s counseling and the introduction of grade repeating system. As a result of this study, it is apparent elementary school students are very interested in their career and schools should provide career education to students. Yet, career education of elementary school students should not be confined to education within class but encompass community, field experience, and practice.
