- Abstract
- The SED-FLUX model is a numerical model in consideration of the bed and suspended load behavior. This model basically considers the wave formation, current, and influence of the ocean and tidal current. In this paper, we improved the SED-FLUX model to develop PKMOR model, which can consider the shoreline change and beach profile change in case of the short term wave such as a storm surge or abnormal wave. This model which is similar with SED-FLUX model, consists of a wave formation module, hydrodynamic module, sediment transport module, and depth change module. The wave formation module calculates a numerical value based on the wave set-up, set-down, and the change of the water surface caused by the tide. The sediment transport module calculates the amount of bed load and suspended load combining with the TRANSPOR-2004 model, and this module would calculate the amount of drift sand at swash zone in order to include forward movement and backward movement of the shoreline. The amount of drift sand at swash zone referred cross-shore sediment rate method of swash zone and swash height equation which was applied to the SBEACH model. The depth change module calculates the change of water depth by the bed load and the suspended load flux, which was calculated by the sediment transport module, and the concept of avalanching is applied to this module in order to consider the sediment transport from the slope failure. PKMOR model calculated beach profile, shoreline change, and morphologic change along wave characteristics on equilibrium beach of slope. This result shows forward movement and backward movement of the shoreline as the condition of erosive and accretive wave also shows the formation of typically eroded and deposited section.
