- Abstract
- Spongy material buoy, remote control system and gimbal devices have been developed in order to generate accurate and long-term tidal current data. TRBM frame has been redesigned to be suitable for the local marine condition as well as for the purpose of better observation of tide and tidal current simultaneously. In addition, through this study, buoy systems and their deploying and recovering methods have been improved.
From one-month tidal current analysis, the ratio of tidal current to total water flow appeared to be 17~40% around the Korea Strait with strong current. However, the ratio increased either westwards or landward, and appeared to be more than 90% at narrow waterways. In most areas, the ratio of spring tidal current to neap tidal current showed uniform range of 2.0~3.0.
TRBM observation revealed that the tidal current phase was faster than the tide phase by 100° in the Ulsan deep sea, but by 20° in the western part of south sea. The phase difference between the tide and tidal current decreased with the increase in depth.
Monthly variation of S₂ with one-month tidal current analysis was large, which is attributed to improper inference of K2 constituent. Therefore, it is necessary to secure much longer data in order to verify these relationships. Inference at any interested position could be determined empirically by neighboring long-term data. If correct inference would be applied to one-month data, accurate harmonic constant can be calculated. In this way, we can also have the same effect of one-year observation.
The tidal prediction by harmonic constant M₂, S₂, K1, N₂, O₁, K₂, P₁, M₄, MU₂, and Q₁ and the tidal current prediction by M₂, S₂, N₂, MSf, M4, 2MS_(6), M_(6), K1, MS4, O₂ K₂, and P1 accounted for more than 80% of the actual.
