Volatility analysis were conducted on the rainfall, wind speed and temperature, which is based on time series data of existing observation stations, to select optimal installation site of additional observation station when will be establish hydrometeorological network in the Andong dam area.
Time series data of 3,969 stations were calculated by Kriging interpolation using each time series data of the summertime rainfall, wind speed, and temperature for 5 years of existing AWS (automatic weather system) 10 stations to secure enough time series data for variability analysis. As Kriging interpolation developed by French mathematician Georges Matheron is one of error smallest methods among various interpolation, it interpolates known sample data in the light of distance and degree of change. We analyzed time series data of 3,969 unobserved stations calculated by Kriging interpolation using the multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis, then show high rank 40 stations on the map of value which indicates intensity of volatility.
High stations of rainfall, temperature were similarly distributed in the upstream area of the Nakdong but high rank 40 stations of wind speed were differed. Therefore we think that upstream area of the Nakdong is a good expected installation station. A further study is needed to grasp meteorological distribution causes of high rank stations of rainfall, wind speed, and temperature.
