A study for the behavior of rock slope the crest of which has been excavated
Abstract
The behavior of rock slope the crest of which have been excavated have analyzed. Slope monitoring data investigated from inclinometer and total station have been acquired to measure the slope movement. The slope behavior was analyzed by considering the structural characteristics of field rock mass. The orientations and positions of discontinuity planes, they were calculated based on the BIPS image. Drilled core log has been used to identify the structural defects. Through the direct shear test of joint containing the coal seam, the in-situ shear strength of discontinuity plane had been utilized for stereographic projection analysis for potential joint sliding, also with the compositions of clay mineral of swelling potentials was investigated from the XRD test.
The behavior of rock slope have been occurred according to the affects of discontinuities causing the planar failure. The accelerated slope movement results from containing coal seam and clay minerals. Also as approaching the last day of field monitoring, slope surface movement have converged. Therefore the internal rock slope behavior does not work up to the failure of slope.
In conclusion, the local slope behavior occurred into internal rock slope has been come from the rock mass structure, it was considered that the failure of rock slope has not been happened according to that behavior.
