A Study on the Waterway burying Characteristics and Maintenance Dredging in the Incheon Port
Abstract
Presently the waters of Incheon port development completed or in progress , many topographical conditions are changing such as harbors, future plans and marine environment is in the midst of change gradually due to recent changes in ocean conditions.
Due to these changes in the marine environment, It is trends that burying phenomenon is occuring in Incheon waterway, Therefore after the spatial distribution characteristics of burying phenomenon and cause analysis is performed, proper maintenance dredging quantity calculation and maintenance dredging period was tried to be considered.
This study results are as follow :
1) In the area of Incheon sea, Annually Depth changes about 20 cm is occured due to sedimetation and sedimetation more than 60 cm in the annual rate is appeared in front of North port waterway and in part of that.
2) Sedimentation occurence in North port and waterway can be considered that is due to cohesion cause to decrease of flow velocity in 1st waterway. Slow flow is due to shape of excavated north harbor waterway. These sedimentation phenomenon in this seas can be understanded that is resulted from combination of flow(velocity, direction) changes and topographical conditions.
3) In the area of the North port and waterway of 1st area annual sedimentation about 60 cm occurs at least two to three year period, the annual deposition rate in the area of 2nd area about 20 cm 4~5 years period, in 3rd area of Incheon New port approach course about 23 cm of the annual deposition rate appears. Thus, It was considered that dredging plan is requied each 3~5 year period in view of development in progress.
4) In North port, waterway and 2nd waterway, because amount of sedimentation is heavy, It was considered that detailed monitoring is needed in priority before specific guide line of maintenance dredging.
