중국공산당 창립시기 중국청년들의 소련유학

Abstract

본고는 1920년대 초 중국공산당 창립 시기에 중국에서 소비에트 러시아로 떠나 모스크바 동방대학에서 유학생활을 한 제 1세대 소련유학생을 중심으로 서술하였다. 그러나 중국학계에서는 중국공산당 창립과 관련하여 러시아 공산당 및 코민테른의 영향을 제한적으로 평가하려는 경향이 강하여 기존의 소련유학생에 대한 연구에서 많은 제약을 두고 있다. 또한 소련유학생과 관련해서 동방대학보다는 중산대학 연구에만 치중하고 있는 실정이다. 본고는 제 1세대 소련유학생에 대한 고찰을 통해 중국공산당 창립시기 공산당 연구에서 소비에트 러시아 및 코민테른의 역할을 새롭게 조명해 보려고 하였다. 특히 1920년대 초기 북경과 상해지역에서 파견되어 최초로 동방대학 중국반에서 유학한 제 1세대 소련유학생은 소비에트 러시아 및 코민테른에서 파견한 밀사들의 공산당 창립 활동 과정 중에서 나타난 결과물로서 주목할 가치가 있다. 본문 Ⅱ장에서는 북경 상해 지역에 파견된 러시아 밀사들의 활동을 통해 제 1세대 소련유학생들의 형성배경에 대해서 살펴보았다. 필자는 보이틴스키 일행이 중국을 방문하기 전에 북경 상해지역에서 개별적으로 활동하였던 이바노프(A. I. Ivanov) 폴레보이(A. A. Polevoy) 스테파니(V. A. Stepany) 등이 당시 진보적인 혁명가들과 관계를 구축하고 있었기 때문에 보이틴스키 일행이 중국을 방문한 이후에 손쉽게 혁명가들과 접촉할 수 있었고, 청년들의 소비에트 러시아 유학도 추진할 수 있었음을 확인하였다. 이러한 밀사들의 활동을 토대로 보이틴스키 일행은 상해에 와서 각지에 혁명국 공산주의소조 사회주의청년단 등의 조직을 건립하여 소련유학생 파견을 위한 조직적인 토대를 마련할 수 있었다. 본문 Ⅲ장에서는 상술한 러시아 밀사들의 활동을 토대로 소련유학생들이 어떠한 조직을 통해서 파견준비를 하였으며 어떠한 경로로 파견되었는지에 대해서 살펴보았다. 북경지역에서는 『晨報』기자단과 北京 無政府黨互助團에서 파견된 유학생들을, 상해지역에서는 上海外國語學社와 新華學校에서 파견된 유학생들을 살펴보았다. 이를 통해 기존의 연구에서는 소련유학생들이 초기 공산당 조직에서 파견된 초보적인 공산주의자들로만 구성된 것처럼 묘사되고 있지만 사실은 다양한 사회주의단체에서 다양한 사상을 신봉하는 청년들이 파견되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 소련유학생들의 소비에트 러시아로의 파견과정에서 이바노프 폴레보이 스테파니 유린 등 러시아 밀사들이 소비에트 러시아 입국 수속과 경비를 지원한 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 제 1세대 소련유학생은 시기적으로 1920년에서 1921년 사이에 중국에서 소비에트 러시아로 떠나 동방대학에서 유학생활을 한 청년들로 러시아 밀사들의 원조 하에 다양한 사회주의 단체에서 파견되었다. 제 1세대 소련유학생의 다소 복잡하고 위험했던 파견의 경험을 토대로 1920년대 중반부터는 유학생 파견을 위한 통일된 조직체계가 설립될 수 있었고, 이러한 안정된 조직을 통해 유학생의 대규모 파견이 실현될 수 있었다. 또한 제 1세대 소련유학생은 귀국 후 대부분이 제 1세대 혁명가로 성장하여 중국 혁명에 매우 중요한 역할을 하게 된다. 그러므로 제 1세대 소련유학생의 중국공산당 창립시기 공헌은 새롭게 주목받을 필요가 있다.

Abstract This paper focuses on the 1st generation international students who left from China to the Soviet Union and studied in Moscow Dongfang University in the early 1920 when the communist party was established in China. However, since Chinese academic society has a strong tendency of evaluating the influence of Russian communist party and Comintern limitedly in relation with the establishment of Chinese communist party, they much restriction in the previous studies on international students in the Soviet Union. Also, in relation to the international students in the Soviet Union, they only focus on Sun Yat - sen University rather than Dongfang University. Through a review on the 1st generation international students in the Soviet Union, this study aimed to re-illuminate the influences of Soviet Russia and Comintern at the time when the Chinese communist party was launched. Especially the 1st generation international students who were dispatched from Beijing and Shanghai to Russia in the early 1920’s, can be considered as the result of the establishment of communist party. Especially, the 1st generation international students in Beijing and Shanghai have an important value as the consequence of activities of the secret envoys who participated in launch of communist party in Beijing and Shanghai. In chapter II, the study looked into the background of 1st generation international students in the Soviet Union through the activities of the special envoys of Russia who were sent to Beijing and Shanghai in China. The author could find that Voitinsky and his company could contact revolutionist directly after they visited China and could promote international study of young people to the Soviet Union because those special envoys such as A. I. Ivanov, A. A. Polevoy and V. A. Stepany had close relationship with progressive revolutionist at that time, Based on the activities of those special envoys, Voitinsky and his company could establish the organizations, Chinese Socialist Youth League, in many regions to build up a base for dispatch of international students to the Soviet Union. Chapter III looked into what organizations the international students to the Soviet Union prepared for the dispatch through based on the activities of special envoys and in what course they were dispatched. It focused on the international students dispatched from 『Shinbo』(『晨報』) press corps and Beijing Anarchist Party(北京 無政府黨互助團) Supporters in Beijing area, and from Shanghai Foreign Language School(上海外國語學社) and Shinhwa school(新華學校) in Shanghai. Through this, the study could find that the international students to the Soviet Union were in fact organized with young people believe various ideologies from various socialist’s organizations, though they were described in previous studies as basic communists from early communist organizations. Also, the study could find that the Russian envoys such as A. I. Ivanov, A. A. Polevoy and V. A. Stepany helped students' formalities for entry and also gave financial aids in the process of dispatching students to the Soviet Union. The 1st generation international students to the Soviet Union were the young people who studied in Dongfang University in the Soviet Union from 1920 to 1921 and were later dispatched various socialist organizations with aids of Russian envoys. Based on the experience, somewhat complicated and dangerous, of dispatching international students to the Soviet Union, there were established a unified organization system to dispatch international students from the middle of 1920’s, and through the stable organization system, large scale dispatch of international students was possible. Also, most of the 1st generation international students to the Soviet Union later become the 1st generation revolutionists after coming back to China and played an important role in Chinese revolution. Therefore, the contribution of the 1st generation international students to the Soviet Union on establishment of Chinese communist party is necessarily to be re-illuminated.
