- Abstract
- The function of textbooks is to provide students with learning contents, to make students explore learning contents, and to give rise to the motivation of learning through the various problems. The mathematics textbooks in middle schools deals with materials related to everyday life, and the materials cause students to induce the motivation of learning.
In this thesis, based on the 2007 revised curriculum, we compare and analyze the mathematical problems related to the real-life in four kinds of second grade textbooks in middle schools. Our comparative analysis is mainly focused on: in which parts of textbooks real-life problems are used, how many real-life problems are contained, and what kinds of items are used in real-life problems. Our results will contribute to development effective textbooks.
