Abstract
Due to the industry developing on, huge steel structures have been constructed recently on the industrial and coastal area such as industrial plants, power plants, ships and various storage tanks that protect against severe corrosive environment by high performance coatings. Because of this demand, many kinds of paint are developed by several manufacturers and applied for the steel structures. Therefore, the investigation on ageing of organic coatings and assessment protective properties of organic coatings is very important to protect metal structures appropriately.
Organic coating consisting of a polymeric material is age according to a given environment such as moisture, oxygen, ion, UV and corrosion factor. In addition, coatings contain hazardous materials and work environments are often effect on forming the organic coating.
The main purpose of this study is to introduce the possibility about evaluation method by EIS and creepage result on paint replacement film and accelerating test. The specimens were produced by applying different six kinds of film type. In this study, EIS technique was carried out as an assessment accelerated ageing test to evaluate anticorrosive properties of specimens. The stress relaxaion, adhesion creepage analysis were conducted to verify the corrosion due to a weathering test. Accelerated ageing tests (artificial seawater immersion test, salt spray test, NORSOK M501 test, prohesion test) were also carried out for 42 weeks to as a control group. Then, the electrochemical properties were measured by means of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy(EIS).
