An Experimental Study for the Development of Hull Stress Monitoring System on Strain Measurement of the Model Ship
Abstract
Hull Stress Monitoring System(HSMS) is a device for warn ship operators about high stress on a ship. The present HSMS is not useful because it simply monitors ship hull stresses.
The purpose of this paper is to develop the voyage solution for improvement in ship's safety and efficiency integrating structural analysis simulation and Voyage Data Record System(VDR) into the HSMS. Strain measurement experiment of model ship is conducted to get data considering each loading condition at anchor and on the voyage. This data will be used to combine HSMS with structural analysis simulation.
Additionally, maintenance of FBG sensors is easy and these sensors have no electromagnetic waves, so the sensors are applied to the HSMS to improve the weak point of a strain gage. To verify the good point of the sensors, the model test is experimented to compare the strain characteristics of the sensors with the strain gage.
