Lab-scale an plant-scale production of liquid fertilizer from fisheries wastes
Abstract
It conducts experiment that biodegrade marine wastes (tuna wastes and fish meal wastewater) to produce liquid fertilizer by utilize 11 sp. thermophilic microorganisms that have high degradation ability of sugar, protein and lipid.
First experiment was that conduct to use tuna wastes (parts of organs, tail, head and bone). It was supply air from start to 6 hours in 1 L reactor for aerobic biodegradation process, after that, pure oxygen were supplied to maintain DO over 1.0 mg/L. Working volume was 700 mL containing 210g (30% w/v) of tuna wastes and 11 sp. microorganisms 210 mL (each sp. about 19.09mL, inoculation 30% v/v). For 96 hours the experiment was conducted to maintain at 45±2 ℃ and R.P.M 800. And periodically, samples were taken and analysed concentration of CODCr, TN, cation (NH4+-N and Na+) and anion (NO3--N and NO2--N). pH, ORP, and DO were measured by real-time measurement. As a result, finally, bed odor was almost removed and the luquid fertilizer that generate pleasant odor were produced
Next I experimented to use FMW (fish meal wastewater) thorough plant scale. 1 ton reactor, for 60 hours, working volume was 600 L containing 30 L borth of thermophilic microorganisms and the other FMW, maintained temperature at 42±4℃ and supplied air from two generator (6.4m3/min). During experiment, samples were taken periodically, and measured DO, CODCr and TN with ORP and pH. During experiment, DO was maintained over 1.0 mg/L.

The results of liquid fertilizer to make from two experiments were showed potential commercialization. After conducted experiments of lab scale and plant scale, each broth were conducted quality test as liquid fertilizer through analyzed concentration of amino acids, and conducted GI test and hydroponc culuture, so they can be confirmed possibility to use liquid fertilizer.
