Abstract
This study investigates and analyzes the purposes, the problems, the importance and the satisfaction level of kindergarten events, targeting teachers and school parents, and then compares the differences, to propose the desired criteria and direction, so that the kindergarten events can obtain the desired results. The specific problems for this study are as follows.
First, what is the difference in the perception of teachers and school parents on the purpose of kindergarten events?
Second, what is the difference in the perception of teachers and school parents on the problems of kindergarten events?
Third, what is the difference in the perception of teachers and school parents on the importance of kindergarten events?
Fourth, what is the difference in the perception of teachers and school parents on the satisfaction level for kindergarten events?
For this study, questionnaires were distributed, targeting 300 teachers in private kindergarten and 300 school parents who were sending their children to private kindergarten. The final targets were 253 teachers and 243 school parents. For statistical analysis, SPSS 15.0 statistical program was used to obtain frequency, percentage, mean value, and standard deviation, and then t-test was conducted.
By putting together the study results suggested as above, following conclusions can be obtained.
First, in respect of the differences in the perception of teachers and school parents on the purpose of kindergarten events, on extensive understanding of educational content and its application, the improvement of the interest in learning, due to various experiences, a sense of belonging to kindergarten, and the development of team work and sociality, the school parents perceived more highly than teachers. On the contrary to this, on continuity on an annual basis, the recruitment of kindergarten students, and PR effect, teachers perceived more highly than school parents.
Second, in respect of the differences in the perception of teachers and school parents on the problems taking place in kindergarten events, on the events to show off, focusing on the result, only, the same event every year, one-shot event without pre/post activities, a lack of personnel for the event, the event in which children do not have interest, and insufficient reflection of the requests and the characteristics of school parents, teachers perceived more highly than school parents.
Third, in respect of the differences in the perception of teachers and parents on the importance of kindergarten events, on the overall importance, various competitions and presentations, various tests, field trips, related to lesson, and parent’s participation, school parents perceived more highly than teachers. On the contrary to this, on ‘the importance of the events related to admission and graduation’, teachers perceived more highly than school parents.
Fourth, in respect of the differences in the perception of teachers and school parents on the satisfaction level for kindergarten events, on overall satisfaction level, the events related to admission and graduation, various competitions and presentations, various tests, field trips and parent’s participation, school parents perceived more highly than teachers. Among them, school parents were the most satisfied with the events related to lessons, and teachers were the most satisfied with the events related to field trip.
