Alternative Title
The enhancement of sulfur poisoning tolerance in the selective catalytic reduction of NOx by Ag/Al2O3 catalyst
Abstract
The influence of sulfate on the selective catalytic reduction of NOx on the Ag/Al2O3 catalyst was studied when CH4 was used as reductant. Various preparation methods influenced on the de NOx activity. Among the methods, cogelation precipitation gave best activity. When sulfates were formed on the surfaces of sampled prepared by impregnated and deposition precipitation, de NOx activity was enhanced as long as special forming condition is satisfied. Dominant sulfate of Ag/Al2O3 catalyst was aluminum sulfate and it seems that they acted as acid sites.
When Mg was added it promoted de NOx activity at high temperature. The XRD pattern did not show peaks of Mg-Al spinel, which shows that promotion of activity stems from Mg sulfates.
Intentionally added sulfated also enhanced de NOx activity when their amount was confined less 3wt%
