The Effects of Aluminizing Treatment on Corrosion Resistance of Ductile Cast Iron
Abstract
Generally, There are many ways to improve corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of cast irons. Penetrating Al atoms to the matrix of steel is known as one of the ways that can improve corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of cast irons. Melting sedimentation is the most simple way for the massive production. Specially, This way has been used for steels and cast irons. Recently this way is being used for STS because of its ability that can improve corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance of cast irons at high temperature.
This study is about effects of time and temperature of aluminizing to the alloy layer at spheroidal graphite cast iron after aluminizing and effects of time and temperature of diffusion treatment. Also, This study can find the effect of combination of aluminizing and diffusion treatment to corrosion resistance.
The more increased times and temperature, The more thick layer of alloy can be obtained. Also, Diffusion treatment after aluminizing can increase thickness of the layer of alloy and increased times and temperature can increase thickness of the layer of alloy.
The more increased times and temperature of aluminizing, The more increased thickness of the layer of alloy can be obtained.
In the Polarization Experiment, There are no differences in temperature of molten metal, time of molten metal sedimentation, whether or not diffusion treatment was proceeded. But, The corrosion resistance can be improved after aluminizing and diffusion treatment.
