Abstract

Kazii Motozirou was little appreciated except by a few companions during his time, in addition unknown writer to the literary circle. He produced more than twenty literary works and died at the age of 31 from tuberculosis as a nameless writer. However, his literary works received a lot of praise from the contemporary leading writers and critics after his death. After the Second World War, Kazii's works were idolized by young literary enthusiasts and deeply influenced the group of writers(so-called the new 3rd figure). The literary trends on the Kazii's whole works are 'the anxiety of dying young', 'the guilty for his mother', and 'loneliness and decadence'. However, he devoted himself to bestow hope for life and find the meaning of happiness under the distress, seeking consolation simultaneously. The term, , contrasted obviously with Kazii's literary themes, is in fact adjacent concepts which are the feeling of anxiety and loneliness. Especially, it would sound as sweet for us in today's hectic life. In the modern age, loneliness and anxiety are getting worse and we need consolation more than ever before. For such a reason, it is necessary to view the inner working of mankind. In order words, I am going to consider expressions of the consolation by means of sensitive protagonists in Kazii's novels. The images of consolation are explicitly revealed in his early works. Accordingly, this paper aims to investigate the various expression and images among the Kanzii's literary works mainly focusing the notion of .
