Studying of physical property and weathering resistance of riblet coating
Abstract
Organic coating system has barrier property to protect substrate from using environment. Many kind of functional paints like optical, electronically, non-toxic rise in paint industry as new field.
Riblet is a part of biomimetic engineering; it is referred to as a rip tip of lamp in lexical meaning. In mechanical engineering riblet means tiny projection on the surface. These tiny projections on the surface reduce air-drag friction. It is riblet effect. Current studies have been released that riblet reduce air-drag friction. When vehicle runs, many kind of resistance are made like aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance, and brake drag. Riblet coating lessen aerodynamic drag. RIBLET coating make rugged surface, micro pool formed between risings provide air from exterior to above surface. This demanded air makes a layer act like a bearing between atmosphere and car’s surface.
In this study, I make riblet coating using organic coating and bead and evaluate properties and accelerate weathering resistance. This study focus on evaluation of riblet coating as automotive coating and of retention in accelerate environment. Test item is in accordance with KS R 0014 specifically adhesion, impact resistance, warm-water resistance, gasoline resistance, acid resistance, chipping resistance, accelerate weathering test, salt spray test.
