Sub-class clustering of land cover considering life cycle of vegetation and climate

Abstract
The aim of this study is developed Asia land cover map based on MODIS land cover and K?ppen climate map. We used Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from SPOT VEGETATION D10 data during 2008. The unsupervised classification was used for classify the land cover map and we acquired total 74 cluster. Via these clusters, we analyzed variation of yearly maximum NDVI, yearly mean precipitation rate and yearly mean temperature during 1999~2007. As a result, NDVI decreased area were mainly located in eastern part of Gobi desert and Manchuria and NDVI increase area was located in Kazakhstan. The variation of precipitation is increased in Asia tropical Cropland and the southwest of Borneo Island in Asia littoral Evergreen Broadleaf Forest. It was appear that temperature factor has increased area wider than decreased area. Increased area was represented in the northern latitudes and southwest of China.
