Design and Implementation of Non-Invasive Technique for Heart Rate and Eye Blink Measurement to Prevent Fatigue Problem Using Web-Camera

Metadata Downloads
Abstract
We proposed a personal monitoring system to estimate user’s fatigue problem cause by prolonged work while using computer. A non-invasive optical technique using web-camera sensor is applied to analyze and classified the user’s fatigue state from the physiological sign and facial features. Two parameters used to investigate the feasibility of fatigue such as heart rate (HR) by processing the change of the skin color from face area with separating the signal color that normalized and analyzed using independent component analysis then optimized with fast fourier transform. Eye blinking is used as the second parameter that process using centroid method which means counting the openness and closeness stage by observing the darkest area around the eyes. Furthermore the image processing is design to perform in real-time to provide a smart personal health care through desktop application. Notification performs as an alert to remind the condition of the body while in a fatigue state. The system proposed was developed and implement to be a reliable and cost effective to the end user by provide a convenient, ease and simplicity of use to provide a provision of health and social care.
Keyword: non-invasive, physiological sign, facial features, independent component analysis, fast fourier transform, centroid method.
