Development of Semi-Auto SAM with Optimal Data Processing by GPU Computing
- Abstract
- Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM) is a non-invasive & non-destructive failure analysis technique that uses focused sound to investigate, measure, inspect for void delamination, bubbles, cracks, fractures, or image an object [1]. Typically, using SAM software requires users to have a lot of knowledge and experience with Ultrasound. This program developed to simplify operations by adding automatic or semi-automatic features such as auto-focus, auto-sizing. The program will automatically control the CNC motor to find the focus point based on the specified gate. Besides, the application needs to process a large amount of ultrasonic data to optimize processing time and computing performance. So the GPU is selected instead of using the CPU to calculate. The program allows analyzing signals and images of objects with A, B, C, D, X, Z-Scan modes.
